The Big Mountain Resort Area District was formed in 2024. It is contiguous with the boundaries of the Big Mountain Fire District and includes much of the area of Whitefish Mountain Resort and adjacent businesses, lodging, and residences. Whitefish Mountain Resort is one of the West’s premier winter and summer resorts, in operation since 1947. The Big Mountain RAD is just west of Glacier National Park and near the communities of Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell Montana.
